Headlines Today
South Australia makes the headlines today with articles from as far away as India – The Hindustan Times and closer to home in the Port Lincoln Times.
The Hindustan Times reports on the visit to Australia by US Defence Secretary Donald H Rumsfeld and the State Department's No 2 official, Robert Zoellick. Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer and Defence Minister Robert Hill met the Americans in Adelaide. It is reported that the visitors were interested in viewing the Aboriginal Cultures Gallery at the South Australian Museum. You can find out more about the gallery at http://www.samuseum.sa.gov.au/orig/aacg/index.htm .
In the second article the Kuju Arts Centre in Port Lincoln gets a mention in a story talking about economic development opportunities for the Aboriginal community at Port Lincoln. The South Australian Tourism Commission and the National Art Industry Support Scheme have provided financial support for the Kuju Arts Centre to move into a purpose-built shed and retail outlet. The Kuju Arts Centre is a very active Arts Centre and more information on it can be accessed at http://www.wangkawilurrara.com/portlincoln/art_craft.htm.
